Sometimes I forget how lucky I am. I am blessed to know some fabulous people around the world. I had a skype chat yesterday with Bryan Person and we touched on the power of community, the importance of moderation and where this concept of community and conversation is  headed for marketing and brands, in particular.

The power of community is here to stay, but it’s  the how, when and where people, brands and organizations choose to use this power that will really change the make the difference.  Is this a fabulous time to be in marketing, or what? As community and conversations evolve, it’s an exciting adventure for us to find our niche in this dynamic process.

Bryan is a social media evangelist and he’s an interesting and very insightful guy who is not afraid to take action on a new idea. , so in the spirit of  building community, I’d like you to meet him. Here’s just a short conversation about one of his key milestones, the development of the social media breakfast.

Questions of the day:

Who in your network is worth introducing around? And, why?

  • I love that you highlighted someone from your community. We often talk so much about our community as a whole. But we don’t always share a name and a story. Bryan is changing the community scene with his breakfast movement. I am excited to see him grow and contribute even further. I cannot wait to bend his ear for a bit and ask him some questions I have.

To answer the post question: There are a lot terrific folks in my community I could highlight. In fact, I think I will start doing it as well. The one name that comes to mind right now is Kenny Mittleider. What I love about him is that he is not a social media or communication guru. He doesn’t really care about trends or why we use the tools we do. He is a just a creative guy that is trying new things with the communication tools I love to try. Kenny has created a very popular podcast based on the web-series, The Guild. (http://watchtheguild.com) But now he has followers everywhere that love Kenny for his personality and transparency. Kenny is about to launch a new project and has also started a bundled online home for all geeky-type podcasts. He’s gone from not being in this connected world, to sharing and being loved – all just because he loves to be geeky and talk about it. Who knew! Kenny can be found on Twitter at http://twitter.com/geekyfanboy.

PS – Nice shot of Mickey in the background of the video. Makes me proud! :-)

  • And the above comment comes from yet another fine gentleman in my community who I am both proud and honoured to have worked with and can now call a friend.
